US Marine Corps MWR Support Activity opens Excursions Restaurant, its first corporate concept at 29 Palms, CA. Construction began 21 Jul 97 and was completed 4 May 98. Renovation and FF&E costs were borne by HQ USMC MWRSPTACT. The grand opening was 13 Aug 98. The kitchen was totally renovated with new equipment to support an up-scale casual a al carte menu and ethnic scatter bars. The dining room décor theme is travel and is highlighted by hot air balloons, travel posters, colorful artifacts, and a kids room. A lounge was added to accommodate overflow seating and serves as a pastry/coffee bar in the mornings.
