QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Question: Are designers available only for NAF major construction projects?
Answer: No, design assistance is offered for projects of any size, a great benefit for small renovation projects with tight budgets.

Question: Is there a charge for design services?
Answer: CFSC designers are NAF employees; TDY costs and design fees are not charged to individual installations.
Question: How can we prepare for a design visit?
Answer: It is helpful for the designer to have as much information as possible during the initial site visit. This might include: a clear idea of what you want to do, as-built drawings (on disk, if possible), and budget information.
Question: What will the installation receive as a result of a design visit?
Answer: Designers prepare drawings and details to reflect the project scope. Furnishings, finishes, and equipment are selected and color boards are prepared for presentation. Specification information is provided once a concept is approved. A written scope of work may also be provided if required.
Question: A local equipment dealer has offered to prepare a kitchen layout for free. Is this a good deal?
Answer: Depends... equipment dealers are in business to sell equipment. They may specify certain manufacturers in order to receive a higher commission. Our foodservice designers work for you, the user. We specify equipment based on your needs, budget, and menu. Additionally, once an outside source prepares a design, by regulation, they can not bid of furnish that equipment.

Question: Why is it important to use an interior designer?
Answer: Interior Designers are your technical expert - we turn your ideas into working plans. We keep current on industry trends and up to date on code information . Commercial products suitable for public use differ greatly from residential products. We maintain a sizable library of sources and are prepared to show you the products that best suit your needs and budget.
Question: We are interested in one of the theme concepts (Mulligan's, Reggie's, Primo's, Sports USA, Strike Zone). Can you help us?
Answer: Once your location has been approved by the CFSC Business Programs Office to receive one of the theme concepts a CFSC designer will be assigned to initiate the design. We will visit your location as part of a team to plan the project with you.

Question: How can you help us with NAF major construction projects where the A-E is providing design as part of their contract?
Answer: We act as a liaison between you, the user, and the project A-E. We make sure your needs are addressed and that you fully understand the A-E's proposal. We are also available as technical experts, to review bid proposals.
Question: Once a design is complete can we count on CFSC Designers to provide assistance during construction and installation?
Answer: Yes, CFSC designers are available during project execution to coordinate with the construction contractor and make site visits as needed. We will also assist in the placement of furnishings and accessories.

Question: Once developed, is the installation staff committed to a CFSC design?
Answer: The designs belong to the customer at the installation. CFSC designers help the customer to create a optimal design according to their needs but the final decision belongs to the customer.
