Support and Concern for Army Families and Single Soldiers
Findings from the report on Fall 2001 SSMP findings include:
- One-half (51%) of all officers and more than one-third (36%) of all enlisted soldiers reported being satisfied/very satisfied with the support and concern the Army has for them.
- For married soldiers, one-half (49%) of all married officers (49%) and almost two-fifths (38%) of all married enlisted soldiers reported being satisfied/very satisfied with the support and concern the Army has for their families. The non-military spouses of soldiers in 2001 were less satisfied with the support and concern the Army has for their families.
- About one-half of married officers and two-fifths of married enlisted soldiers report that unit leaders are greatly/very greatly interested in the welfare of families and know about family programs.
- Overall, married soldiers are more likely than single soldiers to be satisfied with the support and concern the Army and their leaders have for them. Single company grade officers and junior enlisted soldiers are less likely than married soldiers at their levels to report that leaders are interested in their welfare and know about Army programs for single soldiers. Single soldiers also perceive less support and concern for themselves from officers in high post/installation positions and officers at their place of duty.
