SPC Phillip Harris (Performer) SPC Harris discovered his passion for music before joining the U.S. Army in 2003. He was raised in Dinwiddie, Virginia and began playing the drums at the age of 12. He attended Virginia Commonwealth University for three years where he pursued a degree in music. After leaving school to join the Army, he was deployed with the 2nd Infantry Division to Ar Ramadi in Iraq, where he sought refuge in his music. He and several of his comrades built a 15-by-15-foot studio out of scrap wood and old mattresses and began putting on shows for their fellow Soldiers. After returning safely home to CONUS, he was featured in numerous newspaper articles and appeared on NBC and CBS affi liate stations, performing the music he produced in Iraq. SPC Harris has worked with artists such as Trey Songz and COMP, Def Jam. He has opened for TI, Paul Wall, Chamillionaire, and countless other major artists while executing his military duties.
