OVERVIEW OF SERVICES
Army Community Recreation Center programs and services promote the physical, social and self-development of soldiers and their families. Activities may include a mixture of drop-in and self-directed programs, such as darts, billiards, amusement machines, watch TV, DVD movies, obtain trip or tour information or use the computer for Internet service; club or organizational meetings such as drama club or BOSS meetings. Programmed events include competitive events and tournaments such as chili cook-off or Chess tournament. Advanced Chess players can advance to the All Army Chess Championships, then to the Interservice Chess Championships and even further to the NATO Chess Championships, traditionally held in Europe.
The Recreation Center can be a host to a number of special events such as community carnivals, flea markets, lectures and holiday parties or instructional classes like martial arts, cooking, signing and foreign languages. Some of the special services offered may include information resources for leisure, cultural and recreational opportunities; equipment checkout, snack bar, resale items, Internet café, meetings and parties.
