Soldiers currently are assigned to WCAP in all of the sports listed below. However, WCAP will potentially accept Soldiers in any Olympic sport given that they have recently displayed Olympic potential. Qualifications will vary from sport to sport, but generally Soldiers must have recently attained a very high national ranking, placed high at major national or international competitions, etc.

The Army WCAP is now accepting application for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. As anchor on U.S. Biathlon’s Olympic Relay Team, Army World Class Athlete Spc. Jeremy Teela brought the team to a ninth place finish in the Men’s 4x7.5 kilometer Relay competition at the 2006 Winter Olympics.

The Army WCAP is now accepting application for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Army World Class Athlete Spc. Holcomb finished the Two-Man Bobsled competition at the XX Winter Olympics in 14th place- 2.83 seconds away from gold. Competing in his first Olympic Games, Spc. Steven Holcomb raced to a sixth place finish in the XX Winter Olympics as the driver of the USA-2 during the Four-Man Bobsled competition at Cesana Pariol in the Italian Alps with CPT Lorenzo smith as a breakman. He put up a cumulative four-run time of 3 minutes, 41.36 seconds.- .94 seconds behind the winner.

U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program boxer Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Downs of Fort Carson, Colo.,
wins a 21-11 decision against San Diego's Yathomas Riley in the light heavyweight finale of the 2008 U.S.
Olympic Boxing Team Trials Aug. 25 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. With the
victory, Sgt. 1st Class Downs, 32, became the oldest boxer in U.S. Olympic Team history.

U.S. Army World Class Athlete Sgt. John Nunn of Fort Carson, Colo., finishes ninth in the men's 20,000-meter
racewalk with a time of 1 hour, 35 minutes, 31 seconds on the opening day of track and field competition in the
4th CISM Millitary World Games Oct. 14 at Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad, India.

Lt. Col. Heidi Grimm of the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program wins the women's division in the 2006
Best of the U.S. Triathlon Championships on Sept. 16 in Excelsior, Minn. Grimm, 39, stationed at Fort Carson,
Colo., completed the 1.5-kilometer swim, 40-kilometer bike ride and 10-kilometer run in 2 hours, 9 minutes,
49 seconds. She later was named 2006 Amateur Female Triathlete of the Year by "Triathlete" magazine.

U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program Staff Sgt. Glenn Garrison (bottom) tries to turn teammate Spc.

April 7 at Las Vegas Convention Center. Staff Sgt. Garrison, who had finished third in the tournament the
three previous years, won the national title with a 6-0, 5-3 decision over Spc. Sahin, a two-time Turkish
national champion.
