Through interesting, challenging, and enjoyable individual and team sports, Installation Sports programs enhance group morale and the development of a high state of mental and physical well being; assists in the development of the vital assets of teamwork and the will to win, confidence, and agressiveness; and compliments the required unit physical training program.

Higher Level Competitions

Army personnel, including National Guard and Reserve Components Soldiers are eligible (with their commander's concurrence) to participate in the Army's All Army Sports Program. This program conducted by the Army's Family and Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Programs, provides an opportunity for soldiers to train and compete at the highest level their personal athletics skills allow.

Participation begins with the Soldier submitting an application, in accordance with AR215-1, and if accepted will be invited to attend the Army Trial Camp. If selected participation could lead to the Armed Forces, national and international sports competitions, to include international military competition in the Conseil Internationale du Sport Militare (CISM), as well as the Pan american and Olympic Games. Participation is not a change in MOS but a temporary one to three month opportunity to excel in their sport.

The Army currently conducts trial camps and championships in the following sports: basketball (men and women), bowling (men and women), boxing, golf (men and women), soccer, softball (men and women), taekwondo (men and women), track and field (men and women), volleyball (men and women), wrestling, rugby (men), cross country (men and women), and triathlon (men and women).
