
The top 12 Operation Rising Star Finalists will now advance to the Finals (airing on this website and the Pentagon Channel, beginning 11 December).
The top 12 will need audience votes to help advance them in each round of the competition.
The audience will be able to vote online and the votes will count for 50% of the competitors' final score.

PFC Rachel Heideman
USAG Red Cloud, Korea
PFC Rachel Heideman is originally from Corning, Kansas. Heideman's someone that influenced her vocal style the most is her elementary/high school vocal teacher and states, "The rules she taught me are still engraved in my brain!" Heideman sang all through elementary school and high school in solo events and in all of the concerts, plays, glee clubs, choirs and sang the National Anthem at almost every sporting event.
Q: What genre of music is your favorie?
A: Anti-folk music like Regina Spektor and Ingrid Michaelson
Q: When did you realize you had a talent for singing?
A: In second grade when my teacher gave me a grape soda for being the only student who could sing "Oh Mr. Sun" in key!
Q: What is your all-time favorite song?
A: Kissed by a Rose by Seal! I don't even know why! But when that song comes on the radio, all else stops!
Q: What importance has music played in your life?
A: Music IS my life. It has been THE focus of all major decisions I've made in my life. You'll rarely ever catch me not singing. At almost any given moment, I'm always at least humming a little tune. |

Operation Rising Star is a vocal competition hosted by US Army Family and MWR Programs. Army Garrisons from around the world hosted competitions in the summer of 2011. Twelve of the top contestants from around the Army were selected by a panel of judges to advance to the Final competition, airing on this website, beginning 11 December 2011.
