Community Recreation Centers

Community Recreation Centers have many programs and activities to keep you occupied, and may include:

  • Computer centers
  • Internet cafés
  • Leisure travel information (at some locations)
  • Central registration for Family and MWR programs
  • Merchandise and snack bars
  • Music rooms with instruments to play
  • Equipment checkout (board games, tables, chairs)
  • Individual computer gaming stations
  • Cable television
  • Pool tables
  • Table tennis
  • Soccer tables
  • X-boxes and PlayStations
Community Recreation Centers also provide meeting rooms for community and Unit functions that can accommodate a range of group sizes. Check with your local garrison for more details about what your particular Community Recreation Center offers.
 
At many garrisons, Recreation Centers are also home to the Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers (BOSS) office and BOSS meetings.
 
Community Recreation Centers regularly host events and competitions like:
  • Chili cook-offs
  • Billiards tournaments
  • Wii gaming tournaments
  • Orientation tours
  • Talent competitions
And special events such as:
  • Community carnivals
  • Flea markets
  • Lectures
  • Holiday parties and cultural events
  • Instructional classes in music, martial arts, cooking and foreign languages
  • Wellness and life management skills programs
