COMMUNITY RECREATION CENTERS

 

Family and MWR Recreation Centers offer recreation and services for Soldiers and the entire family. These multi-use facilities may include computer centers with Internet cafés, leisure travel information, central registration for Family and MWR programs, merchandise and snack bars, music rooms, equipment checkout, amusement machines, individual computer stations for computer gaming, (i.e. MPOGS [Multi Player Online Games], X-box and Play-station) and meeting rooms for community and unit functions. 

On many garrisons they are the home for the Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers (BOSS) office and their meetings. 

 


Programmed events include competitive events and tournaments, for example: chili cook-off, billiards, Wii, talent competitions; special events, such as: community carnivals, flea markets, lectures, holiday parties and cultural events; or instructional classes, like martial arts, cooking, foreign languages. cultural events, and programs that address community concerns such as wellness, and life management skills.
