From Pilot to Permanent

Military spouses often face unique challenges when it comes to building a lasting career. Frequent relocations, gaps in employment, and navigating new job markets can make it difficult to find stable, fulfilling work. The Department of Defense’s Military Spouse Career Accelerator program is designed to change that.

What This Means for Military Spouses

  • More opportunities: With the program becoming permanent in January 2026, military spouses nationwide will have access to paid 12-week fellowships designed to open doors to long-term careers.
  • Proven results: The pilot program placed more than 1,200 fellows, with 86% receiving job offers after their fellowship.
  • Direct support: Participants gain hands-on experience, professional mentorship, and tailored career coaching.

How to Take Advantage of This Opportunity

  • Current Candidates: If your resume is part of the September 2025 Resume Release, you’re already in! No reapplication required.
  • Schedule a Career Coaching Session: Complete your session with a SECO career coach before January 2026 to prepare for fellowship matches.
  • Respond Quickly: Fellowship offers from the September resume release must be accepted by Sept. 26, 2025.
  • Stay Eligible: If you aren’t matched this fall, you’ll automatically remain eligible for January placements.
