Year after year, drowning remains a leading cause of accidental death – but so many incidents are preventable with proper education and precautions. As Soldiers, parents, leaders, and community members, let’s work together to promote water safety throughout the summer!

Ripple Rookies – (Age group 1-4 years old)
Drowning is the leading cause of death ages 1-4 in the United States
Wave Watchers – (Age group 5-14 years old) - Every year 1000+ 14 years and younger drown in pools and spas
Rescue Ready – 15-17 years old - Drowning rates in natural water (lakes, rivers oceans) triple at age 15 and remain elevated through adulthood
Guardians of the Deep – (Age group adults) - Since FY20 the Army has lost an average of nine Soldiers a year to off duty sports, recreation and physical training mishaps. Boating related drownings are higher for 20 - 24 year old age group
